Glossary

The language of portfolio operations. Most of these terms are not new, a few are. All of them are how we talk about the work of running multiple live products as one coherent operation. We define them here so the rest of the site reads the way we mean it to. This is not an AI dictionary. It's the working vocabulary of a multi-product studio.

  • AI COO

    An AI COO is a system that runs the operating function of a company, decisions, memory, and execution, through a shared brain and specialist AI agents.

  • Autonomous operations

    Autonomous operations is the state where no one has to manually scan every product every morning to know what needs attention.

  • Cross-functional context

    Cross-functional context is the state where the person running ads, the person running the store listing, and the person running live-ops are all looking at the same record for a given product on a given day.

  • Decision cadence

    Decision cadence is the predictable rhythm at which a studio makes operating decisions for each product, weekly tuning calls, monthly portfolio reviews, daily signal scans.

  • Decision record

    A decision record is the per-product log of every operating decision made, the reasoning behind it, and the signal that triggered it.

  • Human-in-the-loop

    Human-in-the-loop is the default operating posture where AI proposes and humans decide, not the other way around.

  • Institutional memory

    Institutional memory is the state where the reasoning behind past decisions is still readable months later, by people who weren't in the room when the call was made.

  • Multi-product studio

    A multi-product studio is a small team, typically 2-10 people, running 3-20 live games or apps in parallel.

  • One operating mind

    One operating mind is the principle that a portfolio should run on a single shared brain, not on twelve dashboards, three group chats, and an org-wide assumption that everyone is keeping up.

  • Operator boredom

    Operator boredom is Qualia's product metric: if a portfolio operator yawns at a feature, the feature is cut.

  • Per-product memory

    Per-product memory is the structure where every product in a portfolio gets its own decision record, signal log, and context store, not a shared bucket.

  • Portfolio operations

    Portfolio operations is the discipline of running multiple live products as one coherent operation, shared decisions, shared memory, shared cadence, instead of treating each title as its own silo.

  • Self-running growth loop

    A self-running growth loop is a retention or monetization experiment that doesn't require a weekly meeting to remember to tune.

  • Shared portfolio brain

    A shared portfolio brain is the single substrate that holds the memory, decisions, and context of every product a studio operates.

  • Signal triage

    Signal triage is the act of separating the alerts that actually matter from the alerts that always fire.

  • Specialist agent

    A specialist agent is an AI worker scoped to a specific operating function, ad spend, store listings, live-ops, customer support, that reads and writes to a shared portfolio brain.
