Portfolio operations
TL;DR. Portfolio operations is the discipline of running multiple live products as one coherent operation, shared decisions, shared memory, shared cadence, instead of treating each title as its own silo. It's the operating shape of multi-product studios.
Single-product ops is a well-documented practice. There are books, courses, frameworks. Portfolio ops barely has a name yet. Most operators discover they're doing it when their fifth product ships and the framework they used for the first one stops working.
Portfolio operations covers five things: a decision cadence per product, a shared memory across products, signal triage that surfaces what matters, cross-functional context so the small team isn't repeating itself, and a tooling stack that doesn't assume one product.
The category is emerging because the operating shape is. A studio of 5 people running 12 apps used to be a curiosity; in 2026 it's a category.
